Cargolux celebrates 50-year anniversary with retro-branded aircraft

One of Cargolux’s 747-400ERF freighters, LX-NCL, has returned home to Luxembourg  sporting a brand-new retro livery.

Its special design, which combines “vintage visual with the iconic lines of the jumbo jet”, celebrates 50 years’ of operations. It is inspired by the design that Cargolux’s first airplanes bore in the 1970s.

Luxembourg: one of the innovation champions in Europe

Over the last years, Luxembourg improves its innovation performance, thanks to its attractive and efficient research ecosystem.

The European Commission has edited the 2020 European Innovation Scoreboard (EIS), in which Luxembourg shows that it has joined the Innovation Leaders group, alongside the Scandinavian trio – Sweden, Finland and Denmark – and the Netherlands. In 2019, Luxembourg was among the Strong Innovators group.

Good figures for CFL in 2019

In 2019, CFL registered a net profit of 17.8 million euros, 25 million passengers on its trains. The company is satisfied with these positive results and keeps on investing in projects. 

But in 2020, due to the Covid-19 crisis, the company could experience a 15% decline in its sales revenues.
